This course is intended to develop knowledge, skills and competencies designed to lead an individual into an employed or volunteer role within a counselling agency in both the healthcare and medical setting. Learners with sufficient experience can also begin working as independent practitioners in private practice.

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is a first stage teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an 'in service' qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers (defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers) to complete this qualification. All candidates, whether pre-service or in-service must have access to 30 hours of teaching. This qualification is also suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment. Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners.

 

This course is designed for practitioners who are new to the field of learning and development or have learning and development as part of their job role e.g. team leaders, HR officers. It is also suitable for assessors who wish to enhance their assessment qualification.

You will learn how to work to national standards of good practice when quality assuring the assessment of others.  A choice of units will allow you to decide what level of competence is best suited to your role.  That might be a manager, a team leader, an internal quality assurer or other. You will gain an understanding of the principles that underpin quality of assessment and how to determine the relevance and quality of evidence and support the assessor in making these decisions.

The Certificates are work based qualifications for those supporting teaching and learning in any type of school; primary (including foundation stage); secondary; special; pupil referral units. They have been developed to reflect changes in support staff roles following implementation of workforce reform. 

They cover the role of teaching assistants but have been broadened in scope to include new roles and responsibilities.The emphasis is on collecting ‘evidence’ of what you do as part of your normal working day as you provide support to teachers and pupils. It also aims to develop and improve your knowledge and skills in classroom support.
